Ralph, the cat in the pictures, was reunited with his people just a week ago after being separated for 14 long years. He is now dead. A Polk County Animal Control officer found Ralph as a stray and took him to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Staff there found his microchip and, with some work, were able to find his family and reunite him with them. where his microchip was used to find his first family who would always love him.

Ralph’s family was glad to see him again and said they were looking forward to picking up where they left off as a family.

To spend the rest of his life with people who knew and loved him, even though he was away from them. Unfortunately, he only had a few days left, but his last two weeks were filled with love with his mother Rita and daughter Jill.

Ralph first came into the family as a kitten. He was a Christmas present for her when she was a little girl. Both Jill and Ralph loved each other very much, and the girl and her cat were always together.

Jill Petticord, who is now in her early 20s and a mom, told KCCI Channel 8 News for a story about the reunion:

“I’m just glad he gets to spend the rest of his life with me instead of lying around on the streets. I can make sure he has a good ending.”

According to a report from KCCI, Ralph died at the emergency vet clinic on Wednesday night after CPR attempts failed to save him.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa posted the sad news on Facebook last night: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved Ralph passed away tonight.” He finally found his family after 14 years apart, but it only took a week to say goodbye for good.

If you ask us, we don’t know what his life was like during those 14 years, but we do know that he felt love while he was in our care and again with his family, who wished they could spend more time together.

Our thoughts are with Ralph’s family as they deal with this terrible loss after so much happiness.

Ralph did get to spend his last week with his family for all time. He only held on long enough to say goodbye and see them again.
