LeBron James out Thursday for Lakers vs. Warriors with ankle issue

LeBron James was unable to play in last Wednesday’s Lakers game against Utah due to an ankle injury. He did, however, play in Sunday’s All-Star Game for 14 minutes.

When asked if he would be playing in the Lakers’ next game on Thursday, he was non-committal, stating that it would depend on his recovery from the ankle injury. As it turns out, he will not be playing due to the same injury.

The injury, called peroneal tendinosis, is caused by overuse and requires rest to heal. The Lakers’ next game is against the Warriors on Thursday, followed by a game against the Spurs on Friday.

The Lakers will be without Christian Wood, who has a fluid buildup in his left knee, and Jarred Vanderbilt, who is out with a mid-foot sprain. Both teams are trying to move up in the standings and avoid the play-in tournament, with the Lakers currently sitting at the ninth seed and the Warriors at the tenth.
