Caleb Williams Sets Record for Top-Selling Draft Pick Breaking Caitlin Clark Record

Caitlin Clark may be known for breaking records, but now Caleb Williams is making history on the other side of things. The former USC Trojans quarterback has become the top-selling draft pick across sports, just one week after Clark, the Indiana Fever superstar, earned the same title.

After Williams was picked first overall by the Chicago Bears in Thursday night’s NFL Draft in Detroit, fans eagerly bought his merchandise to celebrate the new face of the franchise. Fanatics, the official online retailer for the NFL, confirmed that Williams had more orders for his gear on draft night than any other rookie across any professional sport.

Clark had previously held the record, and while her run was short-lived, it was an impressive feat, given the WNBA’s historical challenges compared to the four major men’s leagues.

Bears fans are understandably excited about Williams’ potential to be a franchise quarterback, something the team has lacked for some time. Meanwhile, other teams also saw strong support for their new players, as quarterbacks Drake Maye (Patriots) and Jayden Daniels (Commanders) joined Williams in the top three for highest-selling rookies on draft night.
