Jimmy Butler’s Emo Persona Takes Center Stage in Fall Out Boy’s Music Video

For many athletes, media day is a routine obligation. However, for Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, media day is more than that—it’s a lifestyle. On October 2, Butler made a memorable appearance at the Heat’s media day, sporting an emo-inspired look that diverged from the typical basketball court stability.

Expressing his emotional state, Butler embraced the emo aesthetic, describing it as his current state of being. The unexpected Emo Jimmy made a return, not on the basketball court but for a different stage—Fall Out Boy’s music video.

In a video released on Wednesday for “So Much (For) Stardust,” the title track from Fall Out Boy’s chart-topping March 2023 album, Butler takes on a starring role. Dancing, playing the guitar, and adorned in a distinctive purple suit and haircut, Butler fully embraces the emo persona.

Surprisingly, Butler’s emo venture seems to be working well for the Miami Heat. With a current record of 33-25, they hold the fifth position in the Eastern Conference and have secured victories in eight of their last ten games. Emo Jimmy might just be the unconventional charm the Heat needs on and off the court.
