Kyrie Irving Pays Tribute to His Late Mother with Special Edition ANTA Sneakers

Kyrie Irving is honoring his late mother, Elizabeth, on Mother’s Day this year with a special pair of ANTA sneakers that celebrate her wisdom and protective spirit. The Chinese apparel company, which signed Irving to a shoe deal in July 2023, announced that the sneakers will be released this weekend, featuring several homages to the Dallas Mavericks star’s mother.

The sneakers include the word “Mother” embroidered on the strap and heel pull, as well as Elizabeth’s name on the outsole. The colors and design also honor the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, to which Kyrie’s grandmother belonged. ANTA stated that the new release pays tribute to Elizabeth’s influence and legacy.

Irving’s mother passed away from an illness when he was just four years old, at the young age of 29. The loss has impacted Kyrie, who has mentioned how he never got to experience certain milestones with her. For instance, he stated he never got to give his mother his NBA awards or hug her after a 40-point game.

The special edition sneakers will be available in men’s sizes 8 to 13 and will be sold exclusively at Sneaker Room in New Jersey for $125 each.
