Los Angeles Lakers Unveil Emotional Kobe Bryant Statue Immortalizing His Most Iconic featuring 81-point pose

The Los Angeles Lakers revealed a statue of Kobe Bryant in a memorable ceremony at Crypto.com Arena. The statue depicts one of Kobe’s most iconic moments, where he scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors in 2006. It is a feat no other player has achieved since.

The Bryant statue features five Larry O’Brien Trophies, which represent each championship Kobe won in his impressive 20-year career. The statue also includes a QR code that directs viewers to highlights from Bryant’s career. The base of the statue is a triangle, which serves as a nod to the Lakers’ famous triangle offense while Kobe played for coach Phil Jackson.

During the ceremony, Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s wife, announced that three Bryant statues were to be created. One statue is of Kobe wearing the No. 8 jersey, which was revealed during the ceremony. The other two statues will feature him wearing his iconic No. 24 jersey and one with his late daughter Gianna. However, no dates were given for when the remaining statues would be unveiled.

The event was emotional, with speeches given by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Derek Fisher, Phil Jackson, Jeanie Buss, and Vanessa Bryant. The curtains were finally removed from in front of the statue to reveal Kobe pointing to the sky. Vanessa Bryant announced that Kobe himself chose the pose for the statue.
