Paul Pierce Shares: Nikola Jokic Not Yet Top 5 All-Time Center

Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce weighed in on the debate surrounding Nikola Jokic’s place among the all-time greatest NBA centers, suggesting that despite Jokic’s impressive achievements, he hasn’t cracked the top five.

While acknowledging Jokic’s three MVP awards in the last four seasons and his NBA championship, Pierce highlighted the storied careers of basketball giants like Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, and David Robinson. He argued that these players had a more significant impact on the game and thus rank above Jokic.

Pierce emphasized that Jokic is undoubtedly among the top 50 players of all time, given his accomplishments, but suggested that his career trajectory is still unfolding, and his ultimate ranking remains uncertain.

However, ESPN’s Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo offered a contrasting opinion, suggesting that Jokic could potentially surpass the likes of Shaq, Hakeem, and Moses Malone to become the greatest center in NBA history by the end of his career. Russo praised Jokic’s versatile skill set and described him as better than several iconic centers.

The debate over the greatest center of all time is a perennial topic among basketball enthusiasts, with various opinions on who deserves the top spots. While Jokic’s career is still evolving, his impact on the game has sparked discussions about his place in basketball history.
