“Rivalry between San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets heats up during latest game”

The San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets have a rivalry that’s still going strong, even though they’re not in the running for the playoffs this season.

The teams split the first two games of the season. During Tuesday night’s game at the Toyota Center, which the Rockets won 114-101, tensions were high. In the second half of the game, Spurs forward, Jeremy Sochan and Rockets rookie, Amen Thompson got into a shoving match under the opposite basket.

This caused players and coaches to intervene to break things up. Both players were given technical fouls, and Sochan was assessed a flagrant-1 after replay appeared to show him tripping Thompson.

After the game, Sochan admitted that there’s nothing personal, and that Thompson is “a good guy.” “He is a good guy,” Sochan said. “It was just a competitive thing. We do that as humans, and that’s really it.”

Sochan scored 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Thompson only scored two points, but tallied six rebounds and two blocks. The Spurs were pushed around by the Rockets on Tuesday, but they’ll get a chance for revenge when the Rockets visit San Antonio on Tuesday, March 12.
