The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are appealing to the general public for assistance in identifying a man who was last seen in late September and is now 78 years old. Derek Kruger, 78 years old, was reportedly seen for the last time on 29 September at a petrol station in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

An update to a news release that was issued on Sunday states that local authorities started looking throughout the Greenfield, Colchester County region on Wednesday to find the missing person. As a direct consequence of this, the authorities discovered Kruger’s red Mazda Miata parked on a nearby logging road.

According to the police, the search utilised a large number of resources and covered a significant amount of ground. “More than 2,000 volunteer hours were incurred,” says Sgt. Andrew Joyce, a public relations officer for the RCMP, in a news release. “Over 100 km of dense woods, trails, and roadways were searched,” he adds.

The search activities in the region were halted on Saturday evening; however, the police have stated that the search could be resumed if fresh information is discovered. According to the authorities, Kruger has brown hair and is five feet and four inches tall. In addition to that, he uses a hearing aid and glasses.

While the investigation is still underway, the police said there is currently no indication that any criminal activity has place.

Anyone who knows where Kruger is is requested to call the Inverness County District RCMP at the number 902-625-2220 or call Crime Stoppers at the number 1-800-222-8477. The police have asked anyone who may have information on Kruger’s whereabouts to do so.
