Jolimont Station Accident Today, Trains Delayed Bus Replacing Trains

As a result of an incident involving police at the Jolimont train station, two train lines in Melbourne stopped for more than an hour.

On Friday, about 3:15 p.m., authorities and medical personnel were dispatched to the station after receiving reports that a person had been tragically hit by a train. As an immediate result of this, the Hurstbridge and Mernda lines have been dismissed, and buses have been placed in service in their place between Parliament and Clifton Hill.

The Jolimont station is currently operational, and train services are gradually getting back up and running, although not at their previous levels. Buses serving as replacements for trains will continue to operate.

The delays have caused a tremendous amount of inconvenience for AFL fans who are making their way to the MCG to watch Collingwood play GWS in a preliminary final match.

Commuters have been advised to continue planning an additional 20 minutes of travel time into their schedules.

“We ask passengers to check station platform displays (and) listen for announcements… as trains get back into position for the normal timetable,” the department stated in its statement.

“The Department of Transport and Planning would like to express its thanks to passengers for their patience while emergency services conducted investigations.”
