Michelle O’Neill Pays Tribute to 9 year old boy died in Donegal road crash

Tributes have been paid to a young boy who was killed in a vehicle crash and was from County Tyrone. He was nine years old. Ronan Wilson, who is originally from Kildress, had travelled all the way to Bundoran, which is located in County Donegal.

A pedestrian was reportedly “struck by a vehicle” on Atlantic Way at approximately 9.20 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Garda, which prompted them to call for emergency services. “The pedestrian, a boy aged nine years, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later,” they said at the scene.

“The vehicle that was involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.”During the evening hours of Sunday, gardai said that a man in his 20s had been arrested for an alleged violation of the Road Traffic Act in connection to the collision that occurred in Bundoran on Saturday evening.

“The male is being held at a Garda station at this time under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984”

In conjunction with the investigation, the Garda have taken possession of a car, which will thereafter be subjected to a technical investigation. Michelle O’Neill, the deputy president of Sinn Féin, voiced her disappointment in the situation.

“Hearts are heavy across the country for the beautiful wee Ronan Wilson,” she wrote on the social media platform X, which was formerly known as Twitter. During this most dreadful and heartbreaking moment, my thoughts and prayers are with Ronan’s family as well as the people of his hometown of Kildress.

MLA for the SDLP in Mid-Ulster Patsy McGlone stated that the local community of Kildress is in mourning as a result of the death of the child who was nine years old. He has requested that anyone who was in the area of the incident on Atlantic Way around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday night and who has dash cam footage turn themselves in to the authorities.

“Today, the entire community in Kildress, as well as those located around Tyrone, is in utter disbelief. This tragedy has left us all in a state of disbelief because the Wilsons are such a well-known family in the community,” he said.

“As Ronan’s family and friends struggle to come to grips with this life-altering information, please know that you are in my thoughts.” I am certain that everyone in Kildress and the surrounding areas will be thinking about them and will come together to support them in the days to come.
