The police reported that a 15 year old young man was detained after reportedly attempting to rob another person with a knife. He will be charged with armed robbery tomorrow.

At 5.36am yesterday, this took place at a convenience store on Tampines Central 8.

According to reports, the young male suspect used a knife to rob the victim and demanded S$827 (RM2,847) in cash and S$181.20 worth of cigarettes.

Within 10 hours of the report, officers from the Bedok Police Division were able to identify the boy using on-the-ground inquiries, photos from police cameras, and closed-circuit television footage, and they were able to make an arrest.

The cigarettes that were stolen as well as $30 in cash were eventually found.

Robbery convictions carry sentences of three to fourteen years in prison and a minimum of 12 canings.
