Plainfield 6 year old boy Stabbing, Joseph Czuba charged for stabbing

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said that a child was killed and a mother was seriously hurt in a stabbing early on Saturday morning in the southern suburbs.

In Plainfield, it occurred just before 11:40 a.m. A 32-year-old lady dialed 911 and said that her landlord had stabbed her. The caller said that she fled to the toilet and made an effort to fend off the assailant.

The house, which is on the 16200 block of South Lincoln Highway close to Lily Cache Road, was visited by sheriff’s deputies. Chopper 7 was circling the area.

Officers from the Plainfield Police Department and the Will County Sheriff’s Office responded and discovered a 71-year-old suspect sitting erect on the ground next to the home’s driveway. He was later taken to a nearby hospital after suffering a cut to his forehead.

The 32-year-old victim and the 6-year-old son were discovered by deputies inside a bedroom. More than a dozen knife wounds to the chest, torso, and arms had been inflicted upon each of them.

The youngster was taken in serious condition to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently declared deceased, according to the sheriff’s office. She was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

Tuesday night, a vigil will be held in memory of the 6-year-old kid who was fatally stabbed at his unincorporated Plainfield home over the weekend.

On Tuesday, there was still a lot of grief.

People gathered outside a Joliet hospital on Monday night to pray for his 32-year-old mother, who was also harmed in the attack that authorities are classifying as a hate crime on Saturday morning.

A large number of people attended the funeral of her son Wadea Al-Fayoume, who was laid to rest earlier in the suburb of Bridgeview.

Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson visited with the family.

On Monday night, those gathered outside the hospital prayed for harmony and justice.

Nesreen Abulaban, a supporter of the boy’s family, said, “It’s devastating; she was targeted because she was Muslim.”

Al-Fayoume, according to the prosecution, was killed by his mother’s landlord.

First-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, violence, and hate crimes are among the charges brought against 71-year-old Joseph Czuba.

The Palestinian American family was renting rooms at Czuba’s unincorporated Plainfield house when he reportedly attacked the mother and kid there, according to the prosecution’s testimony in court on Monday.

The mother allegedly testified to prosecutors that “Czuba was angry at her over what was going on in Jerusalem.”

She answered, “Let’s pray for peace.”

She claimed he used a knife to attack her at that point.

The vigil will start at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.

The neighborhood is encouraged to reject hatred.
