On Saturday, the police said that they had apprehended a guy in his 30s on suspicion of having murdered his wife, who was 32 years old and had been staying at a hotel.

According to the police, the guy went to the Marine Parade Neighborhood Police Center on Saturday at 5:05 pm to report to officers that he had killed his wife at a motel located on East Coast Road.

The Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong, which has 451 rooms overall and is located on the Katong Square building’s seventh floor out of sixteen floors.

When the police officers arrived at the hotel room, they saw the woman laying motionless and bleeding from an apparent slash cut.

The on-scene medical professionals pronounced her to be deceased. The authorities are conducting an investigation.

At the Marine Parade Neighborhood Police Center, the suspect was taken into custody. It was reported by the authorities that a knife that was found in the hotel room was suspected to be the murder weapon.

On Monday, the man will appear in court charged with committing murder.

Murderers who are found guilty may be sentenced to either the death penalty or life in prison with the possibility of caning.

Around ten o’clock in the evening, when ST arrived at the scene, there were at least four police vehicles parked in the area close to Katong Square.

Two hotel guests who did not wish to provide their names reported that police vehicles started coming in the vicinity after 5 o’clock in the evening. They were perplexed as to why there seemed to be so many officers stationed there.

They also questioned why the personnel at the hotel had not notified them of the suspected murder, and instead they had to find out about it through the media.

The occurrence was concerning, according to Mr. Souren Tanwani, the 32-year-old proprietor of Butter and Spice restaurant, which is situated just across the street from the hotel.

“I came at about 5:45 p.m., saw several police vehicles in the area, and heard there was a fatality involved,” he added. “When we found out later that it was a murder, we were completely taken aback. It sent chills down my spine as I thought about it.

At approximately 10.30, a police hearse arrived, and it departed approximately 15 minutes later.

A spokesperson of the hotel declined to comment and asked that the media consult with the police for more information on the incident.
