Young Teens Rescue Black Cat From Drowning, Walk Miles To Get Help

While a kitten was drowning in a river, three teens jumped in to save it. They then went miles up a hill to get help.

The teens were just hanging out by the Hutt River in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, when they saw a tiny two-week-old kitten moving downstream on a floating log. Sarah, Lilly, and David jumped right into action to help. David paddled out into the water to get the kitten, and the girls wrapped it in a jacket.

Kitten Inn, a rescue group in Lower Hutt, tells Love Meow, “It makes your heart good to know that there are young people out there who will carry on after us.”

“They came over to my house with this little kid wrapped in one of their hoodies.” They were by the river and saw this poor little soul floating by on top of a log.

“They not only jumped into the river to save the kitten, but they also walked over 4 km (2.5 miles) to bring it to me.” “We knew this was where you take all the kittens no one else wants,” they said when they got to my door.

“We will never know how it got to be on a log floating down the river, but we do know that it is safe, warm, and its little stomach is full. At least for him, life looks good.”

“The parents should be proud; they raised some great kids.”

Woody was the kitten’s name. “Since he has a new mum, we’re not touching him too much,” she said.
